Which PSL team has the best win-to-loss ratio across seasons?

by mishaalmubarak

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will turn eleven in a week’s time, and for the first time, eight teams will battle for the trophy. The league started with five teams: Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, and Islamabad United. Two seasons later, Multan Sultans were added, making it a six-team competition until now.

Which side has consistently topped the charts?

Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars have the most trophies, with three each. But do they also stand out as the most consistent sides? In terms of win-to-loss ratio, Islamabad certainly do. Lahore, however, had several poor seasons early on, which continue to weigh down their overall numbers despite recent success.

Zalmi and Sultans falter in big matches

The opposite is true for Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans, more significantly for the former. Zalmi, before the previous season, had never crashed out of the group stages in PSL history. They have made the playoffs more times than any other side.

Both Zalmi and Multan have strong win-to-loss ratios but only one title each, which points to them choking in high-stakes games.

Among the remaining teams, Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings have one title each. Outside their triumph in 2020, Karachi have hardly been impressive, let alone consistently. Quetta’s record, on the other hand, is steadier.
