“We Are Ready to Play” – Suryakumar Yadav on India vs Pakistan T20 WC Game

The T20 World Cup 2026 is set to kick off in India and Sri Lanka. A lot is being said about the big match between India and Pakistan. They will meet for the first time in the tournament on February 15th in Colombo; however, prior to that match, the government of Pakistan issued a statement indicating that their team will not be playing against India but will play all of the other games in the T20 World Cup.
Most of the people thought of Pakistan's announcement that they won't compete with India in World Cup as part of a protest against Bangladesh being eliminated from the tournament. The reason Bangladesh was eliminated was because Bangladesh refused to play on foreign soil for safety reasons. Following this announcement, Suryakumar Yadav as T20I Captain of India, made his debut remarks about potentially playing Pakistan..
Surya Says India Is Ready to Play Pakistan
"Our mindset is very clear. We haven’t said no to playing them (Pak), they are the ones who’ve said no. Our flights are booked, and we are going to Colombo. Our fixtures are ready first USA, then Canada and then we are off to Colombo," Suryakumar Yadav said in the press conference.
Congress MP and BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla also gave his take on the matter. He opined that the BCCI has nothing to do with the Pakistan government’s decision, and the ICC will be making the final decision. It is worth noting that India and Pakistan are placed in the same group in the upcoming T20 World Cup, but due to the Pakistan government’s directive, the Men in Green will not face the Indian team on February 15.
"BCCI has nothing to say on this. ICC has to decide on this, and whatever ICC says, we will go according to that decision,” Rajeev Shukla told ANI.
