by William Campbell

Shaheen Afridi and Matthew Breetzke were involved in a heated on-field altercation, prompting teammates and the umpire to step in and defuse the situation. In a crucial cricket match on Wednesday, February 12, at Karachi's National Stadium, Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was seen having a heated argument with South African batter Matthew Breetzke. South Africa's captain, Temba Bavuma, chose to bat first, and his team started strong.

The first wicket was taken by Afridi when Tony de Zorzi hit a ball to Salman Agha at first slip. In the beginning, it was a good sign for Pakistan's bowlers but not a great one as Bavuma (82 runs off 96 balls) and Breetzke (83 runs off 84 balls) took the bowlers for a ride and formed a partnership of 119 runs.

Matthew Breetzke and Shaheen Afridi Clash in the 28th Over

While batting together, things got heated. In the 28th over, Breetzke turned down a single and gestured with his bat toward a Pakistan fielder, which didn’t sit well with Afridi. Frustrated, Afridi walked over and had a few words with him. In the same over, when Breetzke was running for a single to bump into Afridi on the field, the two players had another confrontation. Both players had a conversation and the umpire had to intervene to stop the argument.

Breetzke was eventually dismissed by Khushdil Shah, and South Africa reached 238/3. He played a solid knock which included ten fours and a six. In his last match against New Zealand, he became the first batter in ODI on debut to score an unconeased 150. However, New Zealand chased the target with ease and won the match by six wickets to seal their spot in the final.
