Washington Sundar Set to Join CSK in All-Cash Trade Deal, Confirms R Ashwin’s YouTube Chat
A day ago, rumours started spreading that Washington Sundar might be traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in an all-cash deal. There wasn’t any official confirmation then. But on Sunday, the news was more or less confirmed on R Ashwin’s YouTube channel.
During a casual chat with Ashwin, bowler K Vignesh mentioned that the deal is quite similar to the one between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians for Hardik Pandya a couple of seasons ago.
“News is top-secret, confirmed. A blue shirt is going to become a Yellow one. You can say that it is just a rumour, how do you know… I have inside information. I know a person in GT. Washi coming to CSK is confirmed. Like, how they gave Hardik Pandya to MI in all-cash trade deal, now Washi is also almost confirmed for a similar deal,” Vignesh said on the Youtube channel.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar has not been used much in the IPL for some reason. This year, he played six matches and scored 133 runs at an average of 26. With the ball, he took only 2 wickets.
Since making his debut in 2017, he has played just 66 matches and taken 39 wickets in total. That said, he could be a good addition to the CSK line up, who are struggling for quality India players for now.
Their batting remains a big concern, and the pace attack doesn’t inspire much confidence either. However, the spin department looks solid with the addition of Washington Sundar and the presence of Noor Ahmad. Washi could also play a handy role as a pinch-hitter in the lower order.
