Wanindu Hasaranga is set to return for the upcoming ODIs against New Zealand

Wanindu Hasaranga, the leg spinner from Sri Lanka is making a comeback to the ODI team for their next series in New Zealand, they're set to play three ODIs and three T20Is there. "Hasaranga couldn't play in Sri Lanka's recent ODI series against New Zealand in November because of a hamstring injury". Although Dunith Wellalage didn't make it into the T20I team for the trip. He is still with the team for the 50-over matches.

Sri Lanka changed four players from the team that played before, replacing new people in place of Dushan Hemantha, Kusal Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Dishan Madushanka. In that earlier team, Hemantha was there to take the place of Hasaranga. Despite coming back to the ODI group for his first time after the 2023 World Cup, Perera didn't play in any of the last series games against New Zealand.

The Sri Lanka ODI squad:

Charith Asalanka (captain),Jeffrey Vandersay,Kamindu Mendis,Pathum Nissanka, Mohamed Shiraz,Avishka Fernando, Nishan Madushka, Kusal Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Nuwanidu Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Chamidu Wickramasinghe, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Eshan Malinga.

Nuwanidu Fernando, who started playing his first ODI against India in 2023 and has since played in five ODIs is part of the team with Hasaranga. Lahiru Kumara the fast bowler is returning to the group for the first time since the match in March against Bangladesh.The team is letting Eshan Malinga who hasn't played in the 50 over group before, they're starting with T20Is on December 28, before moving onto the three ODIs scheduled for January 5, 8, and 11.
