Virat Kohli Reclaims No. 1 Spot in ICC ODI Rankings After Stunning Performance

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has reached the number one spot in the ICC ODI batters’ rankings again. Although there were reports that the Australia series might be his last in international cricket, the 37-year-old showed his class and played some amazing cricket. He has scored five back-to-back 50+ scores in the format, and courtesy of the same, Kohli has moved to the top of the chart, replacing his teammate Rohit Sharma.
Virat Kohli Becomes No. 1 in ODI Rankings Again
This was the 11th time Kohli reached the top of the ratings. He scored 93 runs in the first match against New Zealand, which helped him move from number 2 to number 1. He has been terrific in the format and has arguably sealed his position for the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, the goal would be to keep up with the momentum and silence all the critics, so that no further questions are raised about his future in the format.
Rohit scored 26 runs in the first match, which dropped him to number three. Daryl Mitchell played very well and moved up to number two on the list. The New Zealand international made 84 runs, but failed to get the job done for New Zealand as India comfortably chased the 301-run target that was set in Vadodara.
New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second ODI. Shubman Gill said India wanted to bat first anyway and he was happy with the decision, noting there was no dew last night during practice.
