Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings in the first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 131 runs and helped Delhi win the match. His knock showed his class and got cricket fans excited about what lies ahead for him.

Speaking to ANI, his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma said that this innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy could be the start of something big for Kohli in the coming days. With discussions about his appearance in the 2027 ODI World Cup being a moot for all the right reasons, Sharma believes that with this knock, he might have just thrown a strong challenge to the selectors ahead of the ICC 2027 ODI World Cup.

Coach says Kohli in great form, ready for World Cup

“He is in terrific form and has continued it. Just like the two hundred he made for India recently, he carried that momentum today too, batted superbly again, and won Delhi the match. After a long time, he returned to domestic cricket and played a truly superb innings,” Sharma said.

“Look, he is in excellent form. He showed it with hundreds in the two matches for India, so he is in outstanding touch. And he is the most consistent player for the Indian team, so I feel he is completely ready for the World Cup,” he added.

In recent times, Kohli has been on a dream run, amassing a whopping 507 runs in all competitions played to date; he tore through Australia with an astonishingly good score of 74 not out, and against South Africa, Kohli scored massive 135, 102, and 65* runs to win Player of the Series awards; his century in the first round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy was simply the continuation of a hot run.
