Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Set to Return for India in August
India's cricket schedule has seen a significant shift, with the originally planned series against Bangladesh in August now postponed to September 2026. In its place, Sri Lanka Cricket has stepped forward to host India in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is) in August. This change in plans could mark the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the Indian cricket team, both of whom have retired from Tests and T20Is but remain active in ODIs.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the postponement of the white-ball series with Bangladesh. Sri Lanka Cricket has expressed its readiness to fill the void by hosting the Indian team. This development has sparked excitement among fans, as it could see the return of two of India's most celebrated cricketers, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have previously announced their retirement from Tests and T20Is but continue to be a part of the ODI setup.
The BCCI is also considering a change of venue for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, which is currently scheduled for Dhaka. Political unrest in the region has led the Indian Cricket Board to seek an alternative location. Furthermore, the BCCI will seek permission from the Indian government regarding participation in the Asia Cup, which is set to be held in the UAE. This year's Asia Cup will be conducted in T20 format, in preparation for the T20 World Cup scheduled for next year.
