Back-to-back sixes from Shivam Dube give Chennai Super Kings a big win. CSK have chased 180+ successfully for the first time since 2019 and earned two important points at home.

Earlier in the day, CSK won the toss and opted to chase. LSG came out all guns blazing, thanks to Josh Inglis, who took the attack to the bowlers from ball one. He dominated the powerplay, finding gaps at will and clearing the ropes with ease. Mitchell Marsh had a quiet outing and departed for 10 in the final over of the powerplay, after watching Inglis from the other end. LSG raced to 91/1 at the end of 6 overs, setting a strong platform.

After bringing up his fifty, Inglis continued his aggressive approach and looked set for a big hundred. Nicholas Pooran fell early for just 1, but Inglis kept the momentum going before eventually being dismissed for a blistering 85 off 33 balls. Post his wicket, LSG lost their way as CSK applied the squeeze in the middle overs, slowing things down significantly. Shahbaz Ahmed (43* off 25) provided a crucial late cameo down the order to push LSG past the 200-run mark. The Super Giants finished on a strong 203/8 from their 20 overs, with Jamie Overton being the standout bowler for CSK, picking up 3/36.

Urvil Patel’s record fifty and Shivam Dube’s late sixes power CSK to a thrilling chase against LSG

In reply, CSK got off to a brisk start with Sanju Samson making the most of the field restrictions. However, Digvesh Rathi struck back after being hit for consecutive boundaries, dismissing Samson in the 4th over. That brought Urvil Patel to the crease, and he completely changed the game with a stunning counterattack. He dealt almost entirely in sixes, taking the bowlers apart and putting LSG under immense pressure.

CSK piled on the runs, scoring 25 in both the 5th and 6th overs to reach 97/1 at the end of the powerplay. Urvil continued his assault, bringing up a breathtaking half-century in just 13 balls, the joint-fastest in IPL history. His explosive knock ended soon after as he was dismissed for 65 off 23 balls by Shahbaz Ahmed in the 10th over, but the damage had already been done. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a composed innings, anchoring the chase before falling for 42 off 28 balls.

LSG kept picking up wickets at regular intervals, dragging the game deep and keeping the pressure on. With 21 needed off the last 12 balls, the match was finely poised, but LSG faltered at the crucial moment. They put down key chances under pressure, allowing the CSK batters to capitalize. With 10 required off the final over, Rishabh Pant took a gamble by handing the ball to Aiden Markram. Shivam Dube made him pay instantly, smashing two sixes in his first two legal deliveries to seal the contest. CSK chase it down comfortably, winning by 5 wickets at home.
