While his tournament average of 40.33 is lower than his overall ODI average of 54.23, he still stands out as Pakistan’s biggest batting hope and remains their key run-getter heading into future Asia Cup editions.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi has quietly built a strong record in the Asia Cup scoring 373 runs in just seven matches across 2018 and 2023. He averages 62.16 in the tournament almost double his career ODI average of 33.3 and has hit five fifties along the way. The 30-year-old left-hander clearly saves his best for big occasions making him Afghanistan’s most successful batter in Asia Cup history.
3. Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan has been Bangladesh’s key player in the Asia Cup over the years. From 2010 to 2023, he scored 575 runs in 18 ODI innings at an average of nearly 36 and a strike rate of 101.23. While he hasn’t scored a century yet, he has notched up five half-centuries and is one of only three Bangladeshi players to cross 500 runs in the tournament, underlining his importance as the team’s talisman.

Virat Kohli has been a standout performer in the Asia Cup scoring 742 runs in just 13 innings at an incredible average of 61.83 and a strike rate close to 100. He has not only been consistent but has also converted his good starts into big scores, with five fifties and four centuries, including his career-best 183 against Pakistan in Dhaka in 2012 an innings that remains one of the most memorable in the tournament’s history.

Rohit Sharma tops the charts in Asia Cup history with 939 runs, the most by any active player and among the top five overall. In 26 innings, the Indian skipper averages 46.95 with one century and nine fifties. A three-time Asia Cup winner, including once as captain, Rohit has also hit the most sixes in ODI Asia Cups with 28, cementing his place as one of the tournament’s greatest batters.
