TNPL 2025 Points Table: Chepauk Super Gillies Extend Dominance Over Tiruppur with Clinical Chase

[ Poll: lGwb7MyM ]

Chepauk Super Gillies have once again emerged victorious against iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, marking their 7th win in 8 games against this opposition. Baba Indrajith has led his team to a tee, and CSG won by 8 wickets.

Raheja's 79 Guides Tiruppur to 173 Despite Early Setbacks

After being invited to bat first, iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans lost Amit Sathvik for a 5-ball duck in the opening over of the game. K Rajkumar looked sluggish and departed for 14 runs after playing 22 balls. However, Tushar Raheja scored briskly from the outset and kept the scoreboard moving.

Raheja notched up his fifty and contributed a valiant 79 runs before falling prey to Vijay Shankar’s off-spin guile. Pradosh Ranjan Paul chipped in with 38 runs but failed to score rapidly in the death overs. They lost wickets at regular intervals at the tail end of the innings, and eventually, they were restricted to 173/6 in 20 overs.

Abhishek Tanwar and Vijay Shankar bagged a couple of wickets each for Chepauk Super Gillies, while J Prem Kumar and Lokesh Raj contributed a solitary wicket.

Aparajith and Hariharan Shine as CSG Clinch Chase with Ease

Coming to chase the run, Chepauk Super Gillies lost their opener Aashiq K cheaply. But Mokit Hariharan was the one who kept the scoreboard moving by leaps and bounds in the power play. Hariharan got boundaries against every type of bowling in the powerplay, and CSG scored runs at over 11 runs per over within the field restrictions. Hariharan got out for 46 off 22 balls just after the completion of the powerplay.

When Hariharan was batting, Baba Aparajith was watchful. After the dismissal of Hariharan by Sai Kishore, the CSG skipper stepped up. He hit boundaries for fun, and Vijay Shankar helped him at times. They together took on the bowlers and hit them to every corner of the ground. They complemented each other well in their 105-run partnership. Aparajith hit 5 fours and 5 maximums on his way to score an unbeaten 77 off 48 balls. Vijay Shankar played the perfect second fiddle to him as he remained unbeaten on 41 off 23 balls.
