Tilak Varma & Varun Chakaravarthy Rise in ICC T20I Rankings; Jasprit Bumrah Retains No.1 Test Spot
India remains dominant in T20I Cricket, especially when it comes to men’s Cricket. The T20 international World Cup winners are also the world number one team in the ICC T20 international rankings. There is only a slight margin between the world number one team and second-placed Australia.
ICC Rankings Update: Tilak Varma Breaks Into Top 3, Varun Chakravarthy Dominates T20I Bowlers
Indians are now the world's number one team in batting as well as in the bowling aggregates. There is a definite lead between the world number one team and the second team in the batting as well.
Abhishek Sharma, who scored the fastest to reach 1000 T20I marks in terms of balls faced, is the number one-ranked player, well ahead of Phil Salt of England at number two. Other Indian players inside the top 10 are Tilak Varma at 4th place and the Indian captain, Suryakumar Yadav, at 10th place, but there is a clear drop for the Indian captain because of his poor performances in 2025.
Now, Varun Chakaravarthy is moving like a runaway train and at present ranks 1st among bowlers with a huge margin of 119 points ahead of the second-positioned New Zealand bowler Jacob Duffy. Among Indian bowlers, nobody else occupies the first 10 slots, with Axar Patel at 13th being the next best bowler after Varun. Jasprit Bumrah, surprisingly, is not among the first 20 bowlers.
There is a surprise in the all-rounder list topped by Pakistan's Saim Ayub, a batter who can bowl occasionally, followed by Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza. India's Hardik Pandya follows in position no.4 in the all-rounder list. This comes as no surprise, considering that he has not gotten any game time in 2025. The women's format faces no such issues. Deepti Sharma maintains his purple patch in the world of women's cricket as well, topping the list of bowlers in position no.1. He also finds himself at position no.3 in the T20I all-rounders list. Currently ranked third in the batting list, Smriti Mandhana has three more matches left in the calendar year.
Hence, India's vice-captain can potentially overtake the current leaders, Hayley Matthews and Beth Mooney, to become the world's finest batter in the batting checklist. India is ranked third in the women's T20I team rankings, though the game between them and second-place England isn't a lot. Leaders Australia also doesn't have the same domination that they do in the ODI rankings.
