The Upcoming Three Boxing Day Test Matches Involving The Top Three WTC Teams

by kyle

On December 26, the day after Christmas, three test matches will be played worldwide, i.e. the Boxing Day test matches. The first match will be from the Border Gavaskar trophy between Australia and India at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground; the second game will be between South Africa and Pakistan at Centurion, while the Third game will be between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

Ind vs Aus: Who will be the WTC finalists?

This will be the fourth test match of the prestigious series between the two Nations. Until now, India has won the first match dominantly, while Australia has made a strong comeback in the second match and won it by 10 wickets, chasing an easy target of 19. The third test match, which was affected by rain, was a draw, leaving the series at 1-1. The last two games are necessary for both teams to reach the World Test Championship final.

Travis Head has become India's nightmare in the series, scoring two centuries consecutively in two test matches and the 50 in the first match. He has scored a total of 409 runs in the series and has a strike rate of 94.23.

SA vs Pak

The match will be played at DP World Wanderers Stadium. Pakistan has had a clean sweep against the host in the three recent ODI series. The series will be necessary for South Africa, as they need to win at least one of the two test matches to secure their spot in the WTC final. In contrast, if the team doesn't win any matches, it will be in deep trouble, handing over its WTC fortune to India and Australia.

Keshav Maharaj will likely not play the test match due to the adductor strain, and his final assessment will be done before the match. The South African team is facing continuous injuries, especially among the pacers. The team has lost four pacers in the last two months due to injury, and they will not be available for the upcoming series.

Afg vs Zim

Zimbabwe will play its first Boxing Day test match at home after 26 years while Afghanistan will be playing their first test match in Zimbabwe. Afghanistan is gaining momentum after clinching the ODI and T20 series against the hosts.
