T20 World Cup 2026: Nepal & Oman Qualify, 1 Spot Left for UAE, Japan, or Qatar

The ICC T20 World Cup will be held in early 2026, hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with a total of 20 teams participating. While some teams were already finalized for the main tournament, others got the opportunity to secure their place in the mega event by playing in the regional qualifier rounds.
Of these, 17 teams had been finalized by the beginning of October, with the remaining three teams to be decided through the Asia-East Pacific qualifier round. Of these, the names of two teams have been finalized, making a total of 19 teams confirmed for the mega event. One of these includes India's neighboring country Nepal.
Nepal & Oman Qualify, UAE, Japan, Qatar Fight for Last T20 WC 2026 Spot
In the Asia-East Pacific Qualifiers round, both Nepal and Oman performed well in the Super Six rounds after the group stage. Nepal played three matches in the Super Six round, winning all three, securing a place in the final and also securing a berth in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Nepal had also secured its place in the 2024 T20 World Cup, making it the third time in the tournament's history. Besides Nepal, Oman also secured its place in the Super Six round, winning all three of its matches, securing a top spot and securing its place in the T20 World Cup. Now, only one spot remains, with three teams in contention.

While 19 teams have been finalized for the 2026 T20 World Cup, only one spot remains, for which three teams remain in contention. Looking at the Asia-East Pacific Qualifiers round, UAE, Japan, and Qatar have a chance at the Super Six points table, making their final remaining matches crucial for all teams. A win against Japan will secure UAE's place in the mega tournament.
