T20 World Cup 2026: India vs Pakistan likely on Feb 15 in Colombo; Semi-final in Mumbai, Final in Ahmedabad
The ICC has announced the dates for the T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament will start on February 7 and the final will be played on March 8. The big match between India and Pakistan is likely to be held on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The full schedule is not officially confirmed yet, but reports say that the BCCI has sent the schedule to the ICC and it may be approved soon.
India will play their first match against the USA. The semi-finals are planned to be held in Mumbai, and the final in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The first semi-final is expected on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Because of the recent issues about India not touring Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, both boards agreed that India and Pakistan will play on neutral grounds. So, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo. If Pakistan reaches the semi-final, they will also play in Colombo instead of Mumbai. The same rule applies to Sri Lanka if they reach the knockouts. This rule could also change the venue of the final if Pakistan qualifies.
Bengaluru will not get any World Cup match. The reason is the stampede and tragic deaths that happened at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s IPL 2025 celebrations. Since that incident, no matches have been given to the stadium. The India vs Pakistan match will be one of the biggest games of the tournament, with huge excitement among fans.
