South Africa Announce Squad for Tri-Series Against Zimbabwe, New Zealand; 4 Uncapped Players Included
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named a fresh-looking squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series against New Zealand and Zimbabwe. With regular captain Aiden Markram being rested, Rassie van der Dussen will take charge of the 14-member side for the series. The T20I tri-series featuring South Africa, New Zealand and Zimbabwe is set to begin on July 14. All seven matches will be played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. The series will serve as important preparation for both the Proteas and the Black Caps ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka.
South Africa have named their squad for the upcoming tri-series, and there’s good news for fans with fast bowlers Gerald Coetzee and Nandre Burger making their return. Both have been out for quite a while due to injuries Coetzee for eight months and Burger for eleven and will be keen to make a strong comeback.
New Faces: Brevis, Pretorius, Hermann Among Promising Picks
Several big names will be missing this time. Regular captain Aiden Markram has been rested, and others like Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj won’t be part of the T20I squad either. Maharaj will still be in action though, as he’s set to lead the Test team during the Zimbabwe leg of the tour.
Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi have also been left out. In their place, South Africa have brought in some exciting fresh faces. Dewald Brevis, Lhuan-dré Pretorius, Rubin Hermann, Senuran Muthusamy and all-rounder Corbin Bosch are all part of the squad. Young pacer Kwena Maphaka and all-rounder Andile Simelane, who has played a handful of T20Is, add depth to the pace attack. The spin unit will feature Muthusamy, George Linde, and Nqabayomzi Peter, giving the squad a nice balance of youth and experience.
