Smriti Mandhana Reaches Career-High 818 Rating Points, Dominates ICC Women's ODI Rankings
Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana reached the highest rating points of her career in ODIs after her amazing 125 runs off just 63 balls against Australia in the third and final match in Delhi. With this brilliant innings, she stayed at the top of the ICC ODI batter rankings and pulled even further ahead of England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is in second place. Mandhana now has 818 rating points, leading Sciver-Brunt by 87 points.
Mandhana was named Player of the Series after scoring 300 runs, including two centuries. Unless she has a really bad performance in the World Cup, the stylish opener is likely to keep her top spot for the next month and a half. Another big mover this week was South Africa’s opener Tazmin Brits. She scored back-to-back centuries in the two matches she played, moving up 15 places to reach sixth in the rankings.
Australia, India and South Africa Players Making Major Ranking Moves
Experienced Australian batter Beth Mooney, who was the second-highest scorer in the series and hit a powerful 138 in the final match, also moved up a couple of spots to reach No. 3, ahead of her teammate Ellyse Perry and South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt. Georgia Voll, the opener, had an early dismissal in the second ODI but bounced back with a 68-ball 81, jumping 28 places to No. 61.
India’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma has been in great form, moving up two spots to fifth among ODI bowlers after some consistent performances. Her back-to-back two-wicket hauls against Australia took her to 651 points, cementing her place as one of India’s top spinners. England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to lead the pack with 795 points, holding a comfortable 85-point lead at the top.
From the Pakistan-South Africa series, Sidra Amin grabbed attention with back-to-back centuries in the first two ODIs, jumping 10 places to 13th. South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp also made a mark, returning to the top 10 at ninth and moving up to second among all-rounders, just behind Ash Gardner. With the World Cup starting next week, we can expect several big shifts across all three rankings.
