Shreyas Iyer will remain with the Indian side for the remaining matches of the T20 series. He was brought into the side as a replacement for Tilak Varma, who, due to surgery for his abdominal issue, was unable to feature in the first three matches. It should be noted that Tilak Varma is making good progress from his injury, and he has recovered considerably.
He is also resuming physical training and is currently undergoing rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. However, he still has some time to get back into full match fitness and is thus not a part of the T20Is against New Zealand. Hence, Iyer is expected to remain with the team. Interesting fact: Varma is set to join the team in Mumbai after gaining full match fitness on Feb 3, ahead of the warm-up game for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
