Shaheen becomes first Pakistani bowler to take 100 wickets in World Test Championship
Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi now has 100 wickets in the World Test Championship, becoming the first from his country to achieve the milestone. The left-armer drew first blood on the opening day of the Bangladesh vs Pakistan 1st Test. It was Mahmudul Hasan Joy who became his 100th WTC wicket.
The milestone puts Shaheen alongside 16 other bowlers to get past the 100-wicket mark in the Test Championship. His tally includes three five-fors and one ten-wicket haul in 29 matches.
Noman Ali, who rose to prominence wreaking havoc on batters on Pakistan’s spin-friendly surfaces, is second on the list with 89 wickets in just 20 matches.
Pakistan are currently battling Bangladesh in the first Test match in Dhaka, where both sides have fielded fast-bowling dominant playing XIs. Besides Shaheen, Pakistan have included Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali to exploit Mirpur’s top-heavy surface.
