At about 5:15 pm, Shabareesh, a cable technician who was heading to Mangalankunnu for a game of cricket with his friend, Manikandan, passed by Punchappadam. They noticed a person sitting inside a car making a phone call. They seemed to recognize him.

To double-check, they turned back and approached the car. It was Sanju Samson on a video call, who requested them to wait until he finished the call.

After ending the call, Sanju greeted them in a pleasant tone and enquired about their well-being. He even invited them to take a picture. Shabareesh agreed and took a selfie with his mobile phone, which had a cracked screen.

Sanju noticed the cracked display and unlocked the car door to give Shabareesh a new mobile phone worth around ₹40,000. Sanju then left after a brief chat and proceeded on his journey. Shabareesh and his companions were quite surprised and delighted.

This was a memorable day for Shabareesh, who hails from Thiruthinmel, near the Vayilyamkunnu Temple, Katampazhippuram. Not only did he meet Sanju Samson, but he also received a gift from him.
