Sahibzada among T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament nominees, here is the full list
Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan is among the T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament nominees on the back of his clinical performance during the tournament.
Farhan’s prolific run
Farhan was Pakistan’s standout player, and he is currently the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 383 runs. With Finn Allen, the next player on the list, 94 runs behind, the Pakistan batter has good chances of finishing the tournament at the top spot.
He has also become the first batter to hit two hundreds in a T20 World Cup, as well as score the most runs in one edition of the tournament.
Besides Sahibzada Farhan, England’s Will Jacks is also on the list. In addition to scoring 226 runs, Jacks has also taken 9 wickets, including a 3 for 22 against Sri Lanka in Super Eights.
Two each from South Africa & New Zealand
Two players, each from South Africa and New Zealand, have been nominated for the award. Lungi Ngidi, on the back of his tremendous bowling effort, and Aiden Markram, the tournament’s fourth-highest run scorer, are on the list for South Africa.
Markram also has one wicket, when he dismissed the explosive Ishan Kishan, which played a vital role in their win against India. Rachin Ravindra, another nominee, has been an out-and-out all-rounder this edition. He has taken 11 wickets and scored 128 runs.
Impactful Shadley and Samson
American pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk is the only player from associate nations among the nominations. Despite playing just four games, Shadley is still the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, having taken 13 wickets.
India’s Sanju Samson has had a somewhat similar impact. In just four games, Samson has amassed 232 runs, with a strike rate of 201, which is better than any batter among the top ten run-scorers in the tournament.
