by Madhan963

Sachin Tendulkar Denies BCCI President RumoursSachin Tendulkar has cleared the air about the rumours saying he might become the president of the Indian cricket board (BCCI). His team confirmed that nothing like this is happening ahead of the BCCI elections on September 28.

"It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)," the official statement read.

"We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations," the statement further said. The statement was issued by SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd.

The BCCI will hold elections on September 28 during its Annual General Meeting to choose the president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. Before the AGM, a big meeting will take place to talk about who could take up the main roles, especially the president and secretary.

Race for the BCCI Presidency: Who Are the Contenders?

The agenda for the meeting includes electing and adding members to both the BCCI Apex Council and the IPL Governing Council, with representatives coming from the General Body and the Indian Cricketers’ Association. Rajeev Shukla is currently serving as the interim BCCI president after Roger Binny stepped down in August on turning 70, as the rules do not allow anyone above that age to hold the post.

The fight for the top BCCI posts is still open with no final call yet on the presidency. Both a former player and an experienced administrator are being considered, while interim president Rajeev Shukla is seen as a strong contender. Sources say three options are on the table, he may stay on as vice president, be promoted to president, or take charge as IPL chairman. For now, the most likely outcome is him continuing in his current role, though there is a fair chance he could be made president.

Before Roger Binny, the last cricketer to serve as BCCI president was Sourav Ganguly, while Sunil Gavaskar and Shivlal Yadav have also held the role on an interim basis. In the IPL Governing Council, former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Choudhury could make a return, and Bengal’s Avishek Dalmiya, who is already part of the council, is also being considered. The final call will depend on the discussions at the upcoming leadership meeting.
