SA20 Season 4: Newlands Hosts Opening Match and Final, Playoffs Set for Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg
Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground will host the final of SA20 Season 4, while Kingsmead, Centurion, and the Wanderers will be the venues for the crucial playoff matches in January 2026. The season will begin on December 26 and run until January 25 with defending champions MI Cape Town facing off against the Durban Super Giants in the opening match at the stunning Newlands.
Not only will Newlands kick off the tournament, but it will also be the stage for the final on January 25. Be sure to mark your calendars for the first qualifier on January 21 in Durban followed by the knockout match on January 23 in Centurion and the second qualifier the next day in Johannesburg.
"Season 4 of the SA20 is shaping up to be an incredibly thrilling summer of cricket, kicking off on Boxing Day and running through the holiday season. Last year, we saw all five matches at Newlands sell out. With the final scheduled for a Sunday, it’s bound to be a fantastic afternoon filled with great weather, entertainment, and an electric atmosphere as we crown our Season 4 champions," said Graeme Smith, the League Commissioner.
"This will be Durban's first time hosting a playoff and we’re hopeful that fans will be buzzing, especially with the top two teams battling it out in Qualifier 1. We’re also eager to return to Centurion and the Wanderers for Thursday and Friday night matches. Having venues close together with matches a day apart is always a plus."

The Season 4 Player Auction for SA20 will take place on September 9, where the six teams will pick their 19 players. With big names like Proteas stars and international players up for grabs, the auction is expected to be exciting, with bids reaching up to $7.4 million. You can watch it live on JioHotstar in India from 5:00 PM IST. The tournament will kick off with the first qualifying round on January 21, 2026, at Kingsmead, followed by the knockout match on January 22 in Centurion and the second qualifier on January 23. The final will be held on January 25 in Cape Town.
