Rajasthan Royals have asked the state government for a safety guarantee to host their IPL 2026 matches in Jaipur. This comes after concerns were raised about the stadium’s safety and readiness. The BCCI has also flagged issues, which is why RR are unsure about playing their home games there and are looking at other options.

Jaipur Stadium Concerns Delay IPL 2026 as RR Ask for Safety Guarantee

As per PTI, the BCCI has delayed announcing the IPL 2026 schedule because of uncertainty around the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. An audit report by Tata Projects highlighted several safety issues, but the Rajasthan State Sports Council has rejected most of them. After the Bengaluru stampede, teams do not want to take any chances with fan safety.

The state sports council later inspected the stadium for ten days and said only small repairs are needed and that the venue is ready for matches. However, a BCCI official said the Jaipur stadium is not on par with other IPL venues in terms of facilities and fan comfort. The official added that special permission was given only for IPL 2024 and 2025 because the Rajasthan Cricket Association is currently being run by a temporary committee.

the BCCI source said that,

“Unfortunately SMS stadium significantly lags behind other IPL venues on modern facilities and overall fan experience. Safety and security protocols, fan experience and overall comfort of people, family coming to watch matches at SMS stadium, are paramount to IPL and are non-negotiable,”
