Defending IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will see their squad assemble at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 15, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has confirmed as work to enhance stadium security continues. KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad is confident that the remaining security measures would be completed in time for the team’s arrival.

RCB will play five league matches at Chinnaswamy this season, including the opening fixture of the IPL 2026, ending months of uncertainty about the venue.

“Yes, there is some work still pending, but it will be completed within the timelines set by the expert committee headed by Mr Maheshwar Rao," Prasad told reporters. “They have inspected the works repeatedly, including yesterday morning. The RCB is likely to assemble here on 15 March, and the ticketed Unbox event will take place a week before the IPL opener."

Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary Santosh Menon said the association informed the expert committee about the security improvements made so far. These include 13 new gates, each nine metres wide, to help the crowd move more easily. The gates are wider than the six metres recommended by the committee.

“The safety of spectators is our top priority," Menon said. “We are communicating all measures clearly and urging fans to use public transport, especially the metro, which now has extensive connectivity. The holding area near the KSCA ‘B’ ground is also progressing rapidly."
