“I am happy to name India’s T20 World Cup 2024 champion and Champions Trophy 2025-winning captain Rohit Sharma as the ICC ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026,” said Jay Shah at the ICC schedule announcement event in Mumbai.

India’s T20 World Cup-winning captain, Rohit Sharma, thanked the ICC and its chair, Jay Shah, for giving him this honour. “From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank ICC and Jay bhai. I’m truly honoured to be an ambassador for an organization like ICC. It’s a big privilege for me. I’m very thankful and hope we can create magic again.

It’s a great chance to win an ICC trophy. I have completed 18 years in international cricket and have been lucky to win two T20 World Cups, including one early in my career,” Rohit said during the event. “Having played in all the World Cups and now watching the games from home will feel different, but I will enjoy it,” he added.
