Rohit, Jaiswal, and Iyer to Miss Mumbai's Next Ranji Match :Reports
The star Indian team batters Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer were likely to miss the Ranji Trophy match held on January 30 against Meghalaya at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
According to the report, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer are expected to attend the BCCI’s Naman Annual Awards ceremony in Mumbai on February 1. The following day, February 2, they are scheduled to travel to Nagpur to join a short training camp ahead of the three-match ODI series against England.
Shivam Dube will also be unavailable for the Meghalaya game as he has been called up to India's T20I squad for the five-match series against England, replacing the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Rohit Sharma returned to play in the Ranji Trophy after November 2015. Mumbai has many skilled players, but also they lost against Jammu and Kashmir. Shreyas Iyer playing Ranji Trophy from starting and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma joined the last match against Jammu and Kashmir.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are the openers for the team and they did not perform well in both the innings. Jaiswal scored in the first inning 4 runs and second inning 26 runs and Rohit Sharma scored first inning 3 runs and second inning 28 runs. In the second innings, Shardul Thakur scored 119 with 18 fours.
Mumbai's team is in third place in Elite Group A with 3 wins from 6 matches. The top two teams qualify for the knockouts. Mumbai has to beat Meghalaya to get a chance to qualify for the playoffs. Baroda would either lose to J&K or concede a first-innings lead if the match ends in a draw.
