Rohit & Rahul Face Yo-Yo Test as India Looks Ahead to Transition

Rohit Sharma has stayed away from cricket ever since the IPL ended, which has led to talks about his future in international cricket. Many are wondering if he might soon step away from ODIs, with some even suggesting that he could retire after the Australia tour later this year. For now, the Indian captain is keeping a low profile and focusing on his fitness, making sure he’s ready when the big moments arrive.
Rohit Sharma Gears Up for Fitness Test and Possible Last ODI Tour
As reported by Rohit Juglan, journalist from RevSportz, both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will undergo the Yo-Yo Test on August 30–31 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli’s test date, meanwhile, is not yet known.
Rohit Sharma is likely to play for India A in the one-day matches against Australia A in Kanpur on September 30, October 3 and October 5. These games will help him get back into rhythm before he returns to lead India in the three-match ODI series against Australia from October 19 to 25.
At 38, Rohit has already stepped away from T20Is and Tests, and his ODI career could now be moving towards its last stage. Many believe this Australia tour might be his final appearance for India, though fans still hope he can make it to the 2027 World Cup for one last big run.
Rohit’s Future and Rahul’s Fitness Test Key for Team India
KL Rahul will also undergo a fitness test in Bengaluru. After a strong Test series in England, the wicketkeeper-batter will aim to show he is fit for the busy season ahead. Should Rohit decide to step away after the Australia series, Indian cricket faces a tough transition.
For over a decade, he has owned the top of the order, piling on tons and match-winning knocks. Replacing that pedigree will be no easy task. For now, though, all eyes are on the fitness drills at the BCCI Centre of Excellence and whether Rohit Sharma clears the Yo-Yo Test before embarking on what could be the final phase of his career.
