RCB Cares: Franchise Announces Six Commitments to Support Stampede Victims Families
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have shared a six-point plan after the tragic stampede in Bengaluru that took place in June. Through RCB Cares, the team’s social responsibility arm, the franchise has listed six steps they will take to truly support those affected.
This announcement comes soon after RCB promised financial help of ₹25 lakh for each family who lost a loved one in the incident. Now, the team has also committed to keeping the memories of those fans alive and carrying out meaningful activities in their honour.

What started as a joyful city-wide celebration for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s first-ever Indian Premier League title sadly turned into tragedy on Wednesday, June 4. A stampede near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives and left more than 40 people injured. The celebrations were planned by RCB a day after their big win against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final, which ended their 18-year wait for a trophy.
The local authorities had not given permission for the open-top bus parade that was supposed to run from Vidhana Soudha to the Bengaluru stadium, just about a kilometre away. Still, more than two lakh fans crowded the area to see the RCB team return with the trophy after their 18-year wait.
Although only pass holders were allowed inside the stadium, thousands of fans without entry gathered outside in huge numbers. As per the state government, a temporary slab placed over a drain near the stadium gave way under the weight of people standing on it. The sudden collapse created panic, which then led to the stampede.
