Rawalpindiz sign Ben Sears for the remainder of PSL 2026 campaign
Debutant Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Rawalpindiz have signed New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears for the remainder of their campaign.
Sears will make PSL debut
Sears is not a regular in franchise cricket, having played just one game for Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket. He has featured in 27 T20Is for New Zealand, picking up 31 wickets at an average of 22.09.
The fast bowler is currently in Sri Lanka with New Zealand A and will join the PSL franchise ahead of their next game on April 10.
Injuries hit the Rawalpindiz camp
Rawalpindiz signed the 28-year-old pacer for PKR 25 million. The move comes as the side deals with the absence of Naseem Shah due to injury. Naseem, who picked up a side injury against Karachi Kings, is the second Rawalpindiz bowler to be sidelined this season.
He is set to undergo further tests on April 15, after an initial MRI scan was conducted last week. His availability for the remainder of the PSL will depend on those results, though the franchise remains hopeful of a return later in the tournament.
Earlier, Rawalpindiz also lost Zaman Khan to an acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation during the National T20 Cup. The severity of the injury ruled him out of the PSL, leading to his replacement by Jalat Khan.
Rawalpindiz are still searching for their first win of the season, having lost all four of their matches so far. They will face Quetta Gladiators on April 10 in Karachi.
