Rawalpindiz rope in Usman Khawaja as Evans missed out on PSL 11
Rawalpindiz have roped in Usman Khawaja to replace England's Laurie Evans for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11. Khawaja earlier went unsold during the PSL auction, where he had registered for PKR 22 million.
Khawaja’s T20 numbers
While not really a player with a T20 reputation, Khawaja has decent numbers in franchise leagues like the Big Bash League (BBL). Playing for the Brisbane Heat this edition, he scored 108 runs in three games with a strike rate of 147.
During his last PSL stint, where he played seven games for Islamabad United in 2021, he notched up runs at an average of 49.20 with a 152 strike rate. His tally included an unbeaten 105 runs against Peshawar Zalmi, which was the first time a PSL captain scored a century.
Usman joins the league as part of a strong contingent of Australian players this year. Besides him, David Warner, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Aaron Hardie, and Ashton Turner are among some notable Australian names in PSL 11.
Rawapindiz will begin their PSL game against Peshawar Zalmi on March 28 at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore.
