Rajasthan Royals Part Ways with Sairaj Bahutule & Dishant Yagnik Ahead of IPL 2026
The trouble in Rajasthan Royals’ management is still going on. The team has now let go of spin coach Sairaj Bahutule and fielding coach Dishant Yagnik. This comes after head coach Rahul Dravid and CEO Jake Lush McCrum left suddenly. The team keeps parting ways with coaches and key staff and it’s still not clear if captain Sanju Samson will continue with the team.
After a disappointing season, former head coach Rahul Dravid stepped down from his role as Rajasthan Royals finished 9th on the points table. Cricbuzz reports that the team has also ended contracts with spin coach Sairaj Bahutule and fielding coach Dishant Yagnik. Bahutule had joined the Royals just last year following a short stint at the National Cricket Academy.
Sanju Samson’s Future with Rajasthan Royals Uncertain
Dishant Yagnik had a long association with the Rajasthan Royals, starting as a player and later becoming their fielding coach. He shared a cryptic post hinting at his exit from the team. There are also reports that strength and conditioning coach Varun Ghosh may have been let go. The management is making big changes after a poor season.
Kumar Sangakkara, the former Royals coach and Director of Cricket has taken a new role with the team. Though not officially announced, he is making key decisions with the owner, Manoj Badale. This suggests he may bring in new coaches. Trevor Penney, who coached the Royals before, is expected to return. Vikram Rathour, the batting coach, will stay and work closely with Sangakkara and bowling coach Shane Bond, who may also continue.
Sanju Samson’s future with both India and the Rajasthan Royals has been up in the air for several months now. Reports suggest he may want to leave the Royals to explore opportunities with other IPL teams. His poor performance in the Asia Cup has also weakened his position in the team. It’s still unclear what will happen, and only time will tell if Samson chooses to stay under the new management.
