"A Great Performer": KL Rahul Lauds Jadeja's Batting Heroics at Gabba

by Madhan Vennapusa

KL Rahul praised Ravindra Jadeja for his brave 77-run innings on Day 4 of the 3rd Test against Australia at The Gabba. India finished the day at 252/9, with Jadeja, Rahul, Akash Deep, and Jasprit Bumrah playing important roles in avoiding the follow-on. Rahul said that Jadeja’s batting often doesn’t get as much credit as his bowling. Jadeja’s knock could be the reason India manages to save the match and aim for a draw.

"He was outstanding today. Jadeja has been doing this for years, batting so well lower down the order. That’s the kind of performance we expect from him, and once again, he showed he can deliver. I’m really happy we could build a partnership when the team needed it the most. After that, he added around 70 runs with the tail, which was so important. Every single run mattered to get past the follow-on and add as many as we could to the total. Jadeja made that happen," Rahul said during the press conference.

Jadeja came in to bat when India was struggling at 74/5 and built a vital 67-run partnership with Rahul. He then formed another crucial 73-run stand with Nitish Reddy, helping India recover. This was the sixth time since 2023 that Jadeja has faced more than 100 balls in an innings. Rahul praised the all-rounder for his efforts and shared that he thoroughly enjoyed batting alongside him.

"Often it's only Jadeja's bowling that's been spoken about, but I think he has been a great performer with the bat. He has a solid technique. I enjoy batting with him, I enjoy watching him play. I enjoy watching him in the training. He has a solid game plan. Really happy he could come in and do the job for the team," Rahul said.

"He is very experienced guy, he has played there for so many years. So, he understands what he needs to do and perform and get runs for the team," he added.
