Quetta announce Bevon Jacobs’ replacement for the remainder of PSL 2026

by mishaalmubarak

New Zealand batter Bevon Jacobs will leave Quetta Gladiators for national duty after being named in the squad touring Bangladesh for a white-ball series. Jacobs is the only New Zealand player included in the squad, and Quetta have signed Sri Lankan batter Dinesh Chandimal in his stead.

Jacobs, who was signed by the franchise for PKR 6 million, only played three games for the side and scored 52 runs at a strike rate of 140, including an unbeaten 49 against Multan Sultans. He will join the New Zealand side in Bangladesh.

Chandimal returns to Quetta

Chandimal earlier went unsold in the PSL auction, where he had registered at a base price of PKR 11 million.

He was previously a part of Quetta Gladiators, having played three games in the previous season. Playing in the late middle-order, he scored 87 runs at a strike rate of 170.

Chandimal is expected to link up with the squad ahead of their game against Lahore Qalandars on Friday.

Currently, Quetta are in sixth place with only two wins in six games. After their appearance in the final last year, they were among the favourites to lead the charts this time. However, their lacklustre batting has kept them among the lower-ranked teams throughout the competition.
