Punjab Kings Announce Shreyas Iyer as Captain for IPL 2025, Ricky Ponting: ‘A Great Leader with a Sharp Mind’

The Punjab Kings pick Shreyas Iyer, an amazing Indian batter, their captain for the IPL 2025 season. They picked him as the second most rated player in the IPL auctions, spending a very big ₹26.75 crore on him. Shreyas Iyer isn't only marvelous, he's incredibly reliable on the field and has a great way of playing the game.

With him in charge, getting to the playoffs three years in a row, and they even went to the final match in 2020.

Iyer is 30, and he is very good at captaining. He's been a captain in 70 IPL matches for two teams, winning 38 matches, losing 29 matches and tie 2. last year, he played with the Kolkata Knight Riders and win their third IPL title.

Punjab Kings really wanted to get the same wonderful outcomes that Delhi achieved from Iyer's teamwork with Coach Ricky Ponting, so they decided to bring them back together. When Iyer was at Delhi, he and Coach Ponting were a great team.
