PSL 2026: Warner will reportedly be released by Karachi until their next game

by mishaalmubarak

Karachi Kings captain David Warner is set to be released from Karachi Kings’ squad, sources reveal. With Karachi’s next game scheduled to be played on April 9, the Australian cricketer has been allowed to fly to Australia for a family matter.

Warner will rejoin Karachi ahead of April 9, when they will host Peshawar Zalmi in what will be their fourth game of the season.

Karachi’s season at top

Currently, Karachi Kings are at the top of the table with three wins in three games, which yield six points. They defeated the defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Quetta, and Rawalpindiz. There are reports that Adam Zampa might join Warner on the flight back home, though the claims remain unverified.

Across three games, Warner has scored 93 runs for Karachi at a strike rate of 138. He was crucial to the side’s campaign last year, leading the side to their first playoff since 2021. This is why he was bought at the auction by Karachi, despite a tense bidding war with Peshawar Zalmi, after earlier being released.

Other Australians in PSL

Warner is part of a strong contingent of Australian players at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this season. Besides him and Zampa, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Aaron Hardie, Usman Khawaja, Peter Siddle, Ashton Turner, among others, are Australians in the league.
