Pakistan U19 captain upbeat for the World Cup as the team gears up to kick off its campaign

by mishaalmubarak

The Pakistan U19 team could not be in better form than they are currently in to begin their ODI World Cup campaign. Over the past few weeks, they have won the 2025 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, convincingly beating arch-rivals India in the final by 191 runs, and lifted the tri-series in Zimbabwe involving Afghanistan and the host team.

High in spirits, Pakistan look for World Cup glory

They come off a fresh win against the USA U19 team in their second warm-up game, after the first against Bangladesh was washed out. All of these results have boosted the team’s morale, which is why captain Farhan Yousaf believes they are “all set to do well in the World Cup”.

“The U19 camp in Multan helped us perform well in the Asia Cup and the tri-series. The same support staff has been working with us for the last six months, and it is now paying dividends ahead of the ICC event,” Farhan told PCB Digital on the eve of the U19 World Cup 2026.

“We have prepared well for the mega event. The players share a strong bond, as we have been together for the last six months.

“The tri-series and the warm-up match against the USA helped us understand the conditions here, and we are now all set to do well in the World Cup.”

Pakistan’s opening game and squad

Pakistan will play their opening World Cup game against England U19 in Harare on Friday. The two sides have not faced each other in the format since 2016. Interestingly, Pakistan U19 have an 11-game-long YODI winning streak against England U19, having last lost to them in 2008.
