Pakistan to Deploy 17,000 Security Personnel for 2025 Champions Trophy
In Lahore and Rawalpindi, the government in Punjab is providing security for every team. They're looking after the places where the teams will stay and where they will have matches. People are getting everything prepared. At least 17,000 guards will be in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi to keep everyone safe when the ICC Champions Trophy games start on February 19.
The official mentioned that about 12,500 officers who keep safe will work at these games. In Lahore, there will be 7,600 guards and even some special strong and brave officers. And in Rawalpindi, 4,500 safety workers will be there, with 411 of them being top-rate detectives from the Special Branch.
The Army is ready to help more. The officials said that snipers would be put in sharp and informed spots. They also noted that there will be looking from above when the games are going on. Special police will be working with the regular police the entire time.
In Karachi, the leader discussed keeping players safe. The cops from Sindh are getting ready for their plans. They said 5,000 police officers, with some having special officers, will watch over the stadium, the routes the teams follow, and the locations where they stay overnight.
Pakistan had the Asia Cup in 2023, but then they moved many of the games to Sri Lanka because India was not willing to play in Pakistan. For the Champions Trophy, India is going to play their matches in Dubai. Pakistan is going to play at least 11 games at their home, and they may potentially even have the last game, the final.
Before the important Champions Trophy, Pakistan is going to play with two teams New Zealand and South Africa, and they're going to play cricket matches together in Lahore and Karachi. They are calling it a tri-series because three teams are playing. Karachi is unbelievably fortunate because they get to have the first game of the Champions Trophy on February 19 and also two games from the tri-series on February 12 and 14.
