Pakistan captain Fatima Sana smashes the fastest Women’s T20I fifty
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has written history with her 15-ball fifty, which she scored against Zimbabwe Women in the third T20I in Karachi. Sana went past New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, who had held the record since 2015, when she scored a fifty off 18 balls.
Fatima rewrites record books
For Pakistan, the record was previously held by Nida Dar, who scored a half-century off just 20 balls in Benoni in 2019. In T20s as a whole (only including the games where data is available), Sana’s half-century is the joint-fastest, equalling the record with Marie Kelly for Warwickshire against Gloucestershire in 2022 and by Laura Harris for Otago against Canterbury in the Super Smash in 2025.
In total, she scored an unbeaten 62 runs off just 19 balls, helping Pakistan score their second-highest T20I total ever. Currently, Fatima is the highest run-scorer for the country in the shortest format this year, amassing 229 runs across six innings with a strike rate of a staggering 206.
