India got what they wanted even though they lost the toss. Skipper Shubman Gill admitted it was a good outcome for them. Australian captain Mitchell Marsh, for the third match in a row, got the toss right and chose to bat on what looked like a good pitch in Sydney on Saturday, October 25. Australia made one change, bringing back fast bowler Nathan Ellis for the final game of the series. India made two changes, with Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna playing their first matches of the tour.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Out with Injury, Kuldeep and Prasidh Step In

Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna came into the team, replacing Nitish Kumar Reddy and Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep was rested, likely because he will play all five T20Is next week. Reddy was ruled out with a quadriceps injury, which the BCCI confirmed right after the toss.

"Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis," the BCCI statement on X read.

Reddy has been injured for the second time in three months. He hurt his knee during the England tour and missed the last two Test matches. If Reddy's injury takes some time to heal, then India might have to bring in a replacement for the five T20Is, given that Hardik Pandya is already unavailable. The visitors might be short on a bowling option in Reddy's absence, despite having someone like Shivam Dube in the squad.
