At the Sarawak Cricket Ground in Malaysia, history happened. Nigeria, who is not consistently very good, beat New Zealand's team, and that was unexpected! Just three months before, the grown-up women on New Zealand's team got the top prize at the Women's T20 World Cup. Before that, New Zealand performed exceptionally well in the previous tournament, reaching the penultimate round. It's a big shock Nigeria won now.

The game was stopped by rain a little, but still, they played DLS method reducing the seven overs. The New Zealand team had the option to choose what to do first, and they decided to bowl the ball. Nigeria played next and scored 65 runs, but they lost six wickets get out before they finished playing 13 overs. People thought New Zealand could beat that score easily because they play a lot better than Nigeria. But they did not played well for New Zealand. They needed to score 66 runs but they did not chase the score and scored 63 runs with six wickets lost in 13 overs.

The Nigerian bowlers took three wickets, and the other three came about due to run outs.They weren't expected to win, but they did, and everyone thought that was amazing because they kept trying. The captain of the team was Lucky Piety, and she did extremely well. Piety scored 19 runs in 25 balls and she also bowls the ball in a way that made it extremely difficult, she took one wicket. Because of this, she got the ‘Player of the Match’ in the game.
