Nick Knight named in both the IPL and PSL commentators' lists

by mishaalmubarak

Former English player Nick Knight has been named in the Indian Premier League (IPL) commentators’ list, despite being part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the same role. With the IPL and PSL running concurrently this year, Knight might need to choose one league over the other.

Potential scheduling conflict

While neither of the two leagues nor Nick Knight himself has confirmed any such switch, reports claim that contracts for both competitions were accepted by him, though PSL made the list public ahead of IPL.

If Nick Knight opts for an IPL contract over PSL’s, he would be the first non-player to do so this season. Before him, players including Gudakesh Motie, Dasun Shanaka, Blessing Muzarabani, and Spencer Johnson have left their contracts with PSL to bag IPL deals.

Why are IPL and PSL clashing?

This is the second year running that IPL and PSL have shared the same time window, the reason being that the latter has postponed its games. PSL usually has a February-March window, but that was taken up by the T20 World Cup this year. Similarly, last year, the Champions Trophy had to be scheduled in the same window.

PSL 11 has already kicked off, with a double-header on Saturday where the third and fourth fixtures of the league will be played. On the same day, IPL’s opening game will be played between the title-defending Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
