Mumbai Lifts It's Second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Today, SMAT came to an end when Mumbai became the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy winner for the 2024 season. It's Mumbai's second title since 2022, where they lifted it for the first time.

Young Suryansh Shedge became the match's hero with the power-hitting knock of 36 runs and one wicket. In his innings, he scored 36 runs out of just 15 balls, hitting three long sixes and three boundaries with a high strike rate of 240. Later, he became Man of the Match. Along with him, Surya Kumar Yadav also scored 48 runs in just 35 balls with three sixes and four boundaries. 


Patidar Alone Bears The Load

In the first innings, Madhya Pradesh scored 174 runs by losing eight wickets in 20 overs, from which the Madhya Pradesh side captain scored an unbeaten 81 runs after just 40 balls in six massive sixes and six boundaries scoring with a strike rate of over 200. The team scored only 38 runs in the power play while losing to wickets, where the team was just about 100 runs during the 14th over. Captain Patidar took the team's score to 174 in the last six overs. Patidar was the only batsman to cross 25 runs in the innings; player Harpreet Singh Bhatia wasted too many balls in the innings, scoring 15 runs in 23 balls, which became a significant reason behind the low score. Shardul Thakur and Royston Dias took two wickets each from the Mumbai side.


Easy Chase For Mumbai

When Mumbai came to bat, star opener Prithvi Shaw lost his wicket at just ten runs. Another opener, Ajinkya Rahane, scored 37 runs and was dismissed by Venkatesh Iyer. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored just 16 runs out of 9 balls. Team India T20 captain Surya Kumar Yadav came to bat at number 4 and scored 48 runs in just 35 balls. In the end, rounder Suryansh Shedge scored 36 runs in just 15 balls, and Mumbai successfully chased the target in 18 overs. 


Player of The Tournament: Ajinkya Rahane


Ajinkya Rahane, for his magnificent season, got the prayer of the tournament award and scored 469 runs in 9 games with five half-centuries during the season.
