MS Dhoni Opens Up About His Future with Chennai Super Kings Ahead of IPL 2025

Former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, has confirmed his intention to play in IPL 2025. The 42-year-old cricketing icon expressed his desire to enjoy the remaining years of his career, amidst ongoing speculation about his future with the franchise. Known for his substantial fan following, Dhoni has consistently drawn large crowds whenever he steps onto the field.
At a recent promotional event for Rigi, Dhoni discussed the emotional and commitment aspects of professional cricket. "I want to relish my last few years in the sport. Playing as a child was easy, but being a professional comes with its challenges. The demands are tough, and the emotions involved make it less enjoyable at times. Nonetheless, I'm eager to remain part of the game in the upcoming years," he stated.
With the BCCI reintroducing a previously scrapped retention rule, the five-time champions have the opportunity to retain Dhoni as an uncapped player for INR four crore. After stepping down from the captaincy in 2024, he passed the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Dhoni also shared insights into his unique training regimen, which he describes as a "stop-start" approach. "I train for about 15-20 days, then take a break for a similar duration. I indulge in my favorite foods during my off days, but when it’s time to train, I stick to a healthy diet."
All franchises are required to submit their retention lists by October 31, adding to the excitement surrounding Dhoni's future.
