Misbah-ul-Haq Likely to Become PCB’s New Director of International Cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board has gone through many changes in recent years, replacing captains, coaches, selectors, and other key people in hopes of improving the team’s performance.
Now, they are preparing for another major step by appointing Misbah-ul-Haq as the new Director of International Cricket. Misbah-ul-Haq has been a successful captain for Pakistan and is known for his leadership and deep understanding of the game. He has previously served as a head coach and chief selector of Pakistan in 2019, and it seems that PCB are keen to have him in an important position once again.
The news was shared on X by Saleem Khaliq, a senior sports journalist from Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently put out an advertisement for the role of Director of International Cricket after removing Usman Wahla from the post.
Misbah-ul-Haq Likely to Become PCB’s New Director as Pakistan
As per the ad, only someone who has played Test or ODI cricket can apply for the position. Meanwhile, Wahla is likely to be moved to another role within PCB, while Misbah-ul-Haq has become the leading candidate to replace him. Overall, there are also speculations that Mohammad Rizwan would be removed as ODI captain after Pakistan's disappointing Champions Trophy campaign. The cricket in the country have been on a decline in the last few years, and Pakistan has not been able to find favourable results consistently in any of the three formats.
If Misbah-ul-Haq is appointed, he will aim to turn Pakistan cricket’s poor form around and make the team one of the top sides in the world again. Right now, Pakistan are playing a Test series against South Africa and lead 1-0 after winning the first match in Lahore.
