Maaz Sadaqat ruled out of competitive cricket for two weeks following surgery

by mishaalmubarak

Young Pakistan top-order batter Maaz Sadaqat has been advised rest for the next two weeks following a laparoscopic appendectomy in Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

Maaz missed National T20 Cup Final

Maaz did not join his National T20 Cup side, Abbottabad, for the final due to the same reason.

Replacing Fakhar Zaman in the squad for the final, which was postponed by almost three months, the Pakistan batter practised with his side on Saturday, a day ahead of the final. However, he was rushed to a local hospital after he complained of severe abdominal pain.

The scans confirmed acute appendicitis, following which the PCB medical panel, along with the doctors at the hospital, suggested surgery. The PCB stated that Maaz is now stable, with his vital signs normal and hemodynamically stable under close observation by the board's medical staff.

Maaz’s injury scare in third ODI against Aus

Maaz also had an injury scare during Pakistan's recent ODI series against Australia. In the third ODI, the youngster hurt himself while fielding in the deep, as his face hit the ground hard as he attempted to save a run.

Sadaqat received medical assistance outside the boundary line before eventually leaving the field. He did, however, return to score 27 off 26 balls in the next innings.

The 21-year-old is also a part of a 27-player white-ball camp at the National Cricket Academy starting June 15. But given his recovery timeline, he is expected to join the camp after clearance from the PCB medical panel.
