Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran are being considered as potential candidates for the new captaincy
The Lucknow Super Giants are trying to pick a new captain for their cricket team. And they are thinking about two players. One is Rishabh Pant, and the other is Nicholas Pooran. Pooran is very good at cricket and he was the best at scoring runs for LSG in the 2024 IPL games. Pooran has demonstrated his leadership skills by captaining the MI Emirates team in the ILT20 tournament. Pooran might become the new captain because he plays so well and knows how to lead a team.
The team may announce their new leader on Monday. Pant has been captain for the Delhi Capitals team for a long time in IPL, so he knows a lot about leadership. Also, Pant was acquired for a substantial amount ₹27 crores, during the high profile IPL 2025 auction. This made him the person who got paid the most ever in the IPL, and it also makes it more likely he could be the new captain.
LSG Suffer Setback Following KL Rahul's Departure
The Lucknow Super Giants, made a debut in IPL in 2022. KL Rahul was the captain for the team for three years. But after the IPL 2024, KL Rahul left the team. Rahul and the owner of the team, Sanjiv Goenka, did not like each other. Things got really abominable when Goenka scolded about KL Rahul after their team lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024. KL Rahul has since made the move to Delhi Capitals, and it remains to be seen whether he will be with the captaincy there.
