Lancashire rope in Shadab Khan for the remainder of the Vitality Blast 2026

by mishaalmubarak

Lancashire Lightning have signed Shadab Khan for the rest of their Vitality Blast 2026 campaign, where they will play four games from June 28 to July 12. Shadab will replace Australian all-rounder Chris Green, who has been ruled out of the competition due to injury.

Shadab’s return to the Vitality Blast

Lancashire will be Shadab’s third Vitality Blast team after having represented Yorkshire and Sussex in 2022 and 2023, respectively. In total, he has 21 wickets and 374 runs in 24 Vitality Blast games across two seasons.

“I am delighted to sign for Lancashire Lightning for the rest of the Vitality Blast. I love playing cricket in England and have really enjoyed my previous stints in the competition," Shadab said of his inclusion.

“Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in the country, with so much history, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt at Emirates Old Trafford in front of the home fans,” he added.

Shadab joins fellow Pakistan bowlers

Shadab will join fellow Pakistan players including Mohammad Ali, Hasan Ali, Akif Javed, Usama Mir, Usman Tariq, and Faheem Ashraf in the Vitality Blast. Speaking on the signing, Lancashire’s Director of Cricket Performance, Mark Chilton, said that they hope Shadab will be a good replacement for Green, who played a decent role as an all-rounder for the franchise.

“We are really pleased to secure the services of Shadab for the remainder of the Vitality Blast," Chilton said.

“Whilst we were all disappointed to lose Chris Green, being able to bring in a player of Shadab’s calibre and experience, particularly at such short notice, will provide the squad with a timely boost ahead of a key run of fixtures,” he added.
