“Kohli’s Absence Felt on Day 5”: Australia Captain Reflects on India’s Lord’s Test Loss

Australia women’s team captain Alyssa Healy lamented the absence of Virat Kohli on Day 5 of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s. She noted that the 36-year-old Indian batter would have thrived in the high-pressure situation on the final day.

Kohli had retired from Test cricket before the England tour. “I missed Virat Kohli’s presence on Day 5 of the Lord’s Test,” Healy said on the Willow Talk podcast. “He would have loved the hostile environment while trying to save the game. He would have been right in the thick of it. Ravindra Jadeja did his best, but it wasn’t enough.”

Former England captain Nasser Hussain had previously commented that India needs to find a new Virat Kohli, given the retirement of the legendary player. Kohli was renowned for his ability to chase targets and lead India to victories in bilateral Test series outside the subcontinent. His last series was the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes was named Player of the Match. Healy praised his second innings bowling performance, where he bowled 24 overs and took three wickets. “Ben Stokes is a warrior,” she added. “He bowled 24 overs in the last innings, showing incredible stamina and skill.”
