Kevin Pietersen Criticizes England's Poor Preparation as India Secures Dominant 3-0 Series SweepEngland's tour of India ended badly with a heavy 142-run loss in the final ODI in Ahmedabad on February 12, resulting in a 3-0 series sweep for India. This followed India’s dominant 4-1 victory in the T20I series, leaving England with little to take away from the tour.

In the final ODI, India put on a strong total, with Shubman Gill leading the way by scoring a century, hitting 112 runs off 102 balls. Half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer helped India post a strong total of 356 in their 50 overs. England crumbled under the pressure, scoring only 214 runs before being bowled out.

While on commentary during the match, former India head coach Ravi Shastri revealed that England players participated in only one practice session across the entire series.

Kevin Pietersen Blasts England’s Lack of Effort

After England lost the ODI series 3-0, Kevin Pietersen expressed his frustration on social media. He said he was shocked that the team didn’t bother to train after losing the first ODI and the T20I series. He said, only Joe Root had a net session after the Nagpur match. Pietersen criticized the team’s lack of effort, saying not a single player could honestly say they gave it their all. He said that was "heartbreaking" for England fans.

“I’m sorry, but I am absolutely gobsmacked that England did not have ONE team practice session since losing the 1st ODI and losing the T20 series. How can this be? Seriously, how? I believe Joe Root was the only player to have a net this series, post-Nagpur. There isn’t a single sportsman on this planet who can honestly say, that they’d improve without practicing whilst they’re getting beaten,” Pietersen said.

He continued, “There also cannot be one player in that England side that can sit on the plane leaving India and saying to themselves, they did everything they can to try help England win. And for that, I’m am actually incredibly sad this evening. Losing is fine if you’re giving your best to improve everyday and if England didn’t train during this series then they didn’t try. Heartbreaking for any England fan!”
